The DualSense Edge remote details its design and shows customization options

Sony has lifted the embargo that the press had to publish the impressions of the DualSense Edge controller and released a video where some of those responsible for the peripheral talk about its design, details and customization options. The PS5 interface is also shown where profiles can be modified among other things. The arrival of the DualSense Edge, whose battery life will be “slightly shorter” than that of the DualSense controller, is expected for January 26, 2023 in exchange for 239.99 euros.

DualSense Edge is a controller with the same size and shape as the DualSense, so the feeling in the hand is practically the same. To justify its price, Edge starts by offering a higher-quality build, including increased surface area on the white plastic portion of the grips, additional texture on the trackpad and triggers, and fewer manufacturing joints. Players will also notice that optional stick and half-dome back buttons are now within easy reach.

Gamers can remap almost every button on the controller and adjust trigger travel with the built-in toggles for the R2 and L2 buttons. “This makes it easy to customize on the fly, without the need to adjust the controller profile settings,” Sony says. Additionally, the peripheral ships with three sets of magnetic joystick caps for easy customization. The standard two are similar to the joysticks on the DualSense controller, while the high and low dome caps offer a concave feel reminiscent of the rugged DualShock 3 joysticks.

In addition to accessories and trigger settings, the DualSense Edge controller can be customized using profiles. Players will be able to store up to 30 profiles on the console and up to 3 profiles on the controller. For those who don’t want to mess with profiles, Edge will offer five preset profiles: Fast (for hectic FPS), Precise (for exact movements), Constant (for smooth and stable movement), Digital (the minimum tilt of the joystick is registers as near maximum input) and Dynamic (registered input is limited by tilting the joystick, but speeds up in the midrange)

Finally, mention the existence of two buttons that are located below the joysticks and are used to easily access the specific menu of the DualSense Edge controller. These buttons let you switch between profiles, adjust headset volume, set party chat and game audio balance, and more.
