The Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin this Friday for the fact that the Russian authorities have shared their “experience” with the Qataris in organizing a soccer World Cup, two days after it start the 2022 edition.

Qatar picks up the baton from Russia as host of this event, surrounded by controversy. Putin has congratulated the emir on the start of the meeting and is confident that the local team will have a good performance, according to a statement released by the Kremlin.

Apart from sports, the two leaders have also dealt with current issues in the political and economic spheres, with a view to guaranteeing, for example, good cooperation in the energy field. In this sense, they have advocated guaranteeing the stability of the gas market worldwide.
