The Polish authorities will organize state funerals this weekend to pay tribute to the two people who died on Tuesday as a result of a missile strike in the town of Przewodow, located about six kilometers from the border with Ukraine.

A local cleric has confirmed to the PAP news agency that the funerals for the two deceased men, aged 60 and 62, will be held on Saturday and Sunday and will be official. The victims were at an agricultural facility when the explosion occurred.

The Government had already advanced on Thursday its intention to dismiss the two deceased with honors, waiting for the families to give their approval, as it seems to have been.

The authorities, meanwhile, continue the investigations to try to clarify this event, the first of its kind to occur in a NATO member country since Russian President Vladimir Putin gave the order in February to start the invasion of Ukraine.

The preliminary investigations rule out that it is a projectile fired by Russia and, instead, point to a missile fired by the Ukrainian air defense systems, which that day activated the alert for the largest wave of bombing since the beginning of the offensive. .

Warsaw has ruled out questioning NATO for this case, which it frames within an escalation of tensions for which it blames Moscow exclusively, while kyiv, which has avoided assuming the missile as its own, has demanded more international support to deal with the constant attacks.
