Microsoft has announced a new accessibility feature for Microsoft Teams, and it is none other than a sign language view coming to the app’s video calls in the futurebecause at the moment it is in the testing phase and it will not be available to all users of the application.
This view will allow users who are hard of hearing have a larger and better view of a sign interpreter in those meetings that have one, So if the company you’re meeting with already has accessibility provisions for hearing impaired users, this feature will make it easier.
This view will also be locked in the same position on the screen, so it will have higher priority than any other anchored view, in addition to not being able to move around the screen like the rest of the participants.
Obviously, if there is no sign language interpreter on our call, we will not be able to do anything to remedy it either, since Microsoft Teams will not provide an interpreter for you, either physical or virtual, so it’s more of a tool that interpreters can use than anything else.
