The Iranian authorities have confirmed this Wednesday a second death sentence in relation to the protests in recent weeks over the death in custody of Mahsa Amini and have indicated that three of those detained in the mobilizations belong to the French Intelligence services.
The head of the judicial apparatus in the province of Fars, Kazem Mousavi, has indicated that the second sentenced to death “assaulted a 16-year-old teenager” during a protest, without giving further details, according to the Iranian news portal Mizan Online. .
Mousavi’s remarks come three days after an Iranian court issued the first death sentence in connection with the protests that erupted after the death of Amini, who died on September 16 after being arrested for allegedly wearing the veil incorrectly.
Likewise, Iran’s Interior Minister, Ahmed Vahidi, has indicated that several foreigners, including “elements of the French Intelligence agency”, have been arrested during the “riots”. “People of various nationalities have been arrested, some of whom have played a big role (in the protests),” he said.
Vahidi has reported that “elements related” to the Islamic State jihadist group have also been detained and has added that all of them have been brought to justice so that they “face the law”, as reported by the Iranian news agency Mehr.
“The enemy tried to create an atmosphere of insecurity,” he denounced, before emphasizing that “they could not achieve their objectives due to the firm action of the (Iranian) Intelligence and security agencies.”
The Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) news portal estimates that more than 15,000 people have gone into police custody, temporarily or so far, since the outbreak of the protests, which have cost the lives of more than 330 people, including fifty members of the security forces.
On the other hand, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard has announced the arrest of an alleged member of the Mossad, the Iranian Intelligence services, when “he was planning a subversive operation”, as Mehr has reported.
The agency has highlighted that the man has confessed that he saw a Mossad ad and sent a request by email and his identity documents to collaborate with the agency, after which he came into contact with them through WhatsApp, Instagram and Telegram.
The Iranian authorities have announced in recent weeks the dismantling of several cells allegedly made up of Mossad members, without Israel having responded to the accusations.
