Yoon and Xi meet for the first time during the G20 summit in Bali

November 15 (EUROPA PRESS) –

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping met on Tuesday for the first time since they took office for the G20 summit being held this week in Bali, Indonesia.

The two leaders were expected to address different issues related to the current geopolitical context, especially given the increase in tension on the Korean peninsula after North Korea carried out numerous ballistic tests, although no details have been disclosed for the moment. of the meeting

This is expected to be Yoon’s last bilateral meeting during his trip to South Asia, which has also led him to meet with heads of state and government from other countries, according to information collected by the Yonhap news agency.

The summit between the two takes place a day after Xi met US President Joe Biden, who has questioned China’s true influence over North Korea.

The last time the leaders of China and South Korea met was in December 2019, when the now former president Moon Jae In met Xi in the framework of a trilateral summit held in Beijing that also included Japan.
