IPTV

Brazil stands up to devices with access to IPTV channels and they will be banned throughout the country, with sanctions for those who sell or buy them.

The persecution of IPTV Pirate is something that is already persecuted in many countries, with Spain as a clear example. Rights-owning companies are being forced to take increasingly drastic measures to to stop this activity.

As well, Brazil will soon say goodbye to pirated IPTV devices after experiencing a large increase in the country. And it is that, these get serious and seek to prohibit their sale or purchase.

“Irregular (non-approved) decoders allow access to channels television closed without paying for the service. In addition, irregular devices can represent a risk for children and adolescents, with access to inappropriate content, and also a danger to the privacy of user data,” reports Anatel (National Telecommunications Agency).

This country was one of those that appeared on the “Watch List” that the US establishes with those nations that must strengthen their anti-piracy measures.

The Brazilian authorities have invested and are investing considerable effort in the fight against pirated IPTV services, pirated web-based streaming platforms and streaming applications as part of Operation 404.

According to reports, in 2020 and 2021, 1.5 million devicesalthough a lucky few were reused in schools, hospitals and even police cars.

The approved methodology provides for a fine of 20 dollars for individuals or individual entrepreneurs for minor infractions and a fine of up to 5.58 million for large companies for serious infractions.

What is IPTV, how does it work and why is it a bad idea to use it?

New certification for legal products intended for sale

Knowing this, the manufacturers themselves must include a certification named “Smart TV Box” to ensure that any device with features intended to violate copyright law is denied official certification and market access.

For it, teams of people will be assigned to verify the legality of the product. On the other hand, test labs must also list all programs or applications installed by default and check them against a “list of irregular equipment or programs published or endorsed by Anatel”.

If a fault is found in any of the phases, the device will not be certified and cannot be sold. Even with this and how could it be otherwise, all devices with access to channels IPTV are out of this certification.
