An Antonov model AN-2 plane with Cuban registration, and with the initials of the National Air Services Company (ENSA) crashed on Monday in the vicinity of the Everglades, about 24 kilometers from the city of Miami, in the United States .
“An Antonov An-2 with two people on board crashed in Everglades National Park near Miami, Florida, around 1:30 p.m. local time,” he confirmed to the voice of america a spokesperson for the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) via email.
In photos and images published by the news channel Local 10 News from Miami, you can read the registration CU A1885 and the initials ENSA, from the Cuban government, which coincide with the addresses of the Soviet-made aircraft, owned by the Cuban Civil Aeronautics, in which a Cuban pilot escaped on October 21 , also landing at a small airport in the Everglades.
The US authorities have not yet confirmed that it is the same biplane.
That day, the authorities in Miami reported the arrival of the Cuban plane under the operations of the pilot Rubén Martínez Machado, who is in the custody of the Immigration Service (ICE) and has been denied a bond request.
The FAA informed the VOA that they will investigate the case in conjunction with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and then provide additional data.
In its note from a few weeks ago, the Cuban government stressed that “acts of air piracy constitute crimes typified in various international conventions, ratified by Cuba and the United States.”
