November 10 (Portaltic/EP) –
WhatsApp has begun to deploy the capability of mute group conversations automatically when they exceed a certain number of participants, with the aim of reducing noise in them.
The technology company activated the Communities at the beginning of the month, a novelty that was accompanied by an update for the groups, which now admit up to 1,024 participants.
Being able to be so crowded, notifications of the actions of members of a group conversation can make too much noise, and not facilitate the follow-up of what it is about. For this reason, WhatsApp is working on the function that will allow you to silence it.
The novelty, which the company has been working on for some time, has begun to be deployed in version 2.22.24.15 of the Android application, within the Google Play Beta program, as reported by the WABtainfo portal.
In the captures that the aforementioned portal has shared, a message warns that “group has more than 256 participants has been automatically muted to help reduce notifications“. That is, large groups will be automatically muted when they have a large number of participants.
