IBM manages to reach 433 qubits in its new Osprey quantum processor



We are getting closer to quantum computing representing a revolution in the world of computing and data processing, and IBM is one of the companies that has been working most actively on quantum processors for a few years now. In fact, just over a year ago they presented their EAGLE with 127 qbits, the most powerful of their line of quantum CPUs.

Until now, because its new ibm osprey, It multiplies this figure considerably, increasing it to 433 qubits. A truly striking leap that has required a stacked and interconnected module design, as well as using extreme cooling systems to make it work at -273 degrees Celsius.

Its modular design allows the integration of several of these IBM Osprey on a single computer called the IBM Quantum System Two. Specifically, it is System Two that is capable of keeping three of these processors cryogenically cooled for operation. In addition, each of these systems can be interconnected with others to achieve up to 16,632 qbits, surpassing the performance of any other solution available on the market.

The arrival of these systems will take place next year, in 2023, giving a leap to the current state of development of quantum equipment.
