The transitional government of Burkina Faso has announced that it has been informed of the deaths of several people near Djibo, including children, in the attacks denounced by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in the country, Therefore, it has promised to clarify the facts and punish the guilty.
The UN Office warned that on November 9, the 14th Djibo Combined Arms Regiment had fired on four villages located about ten kilometers from the military camp and the city, according to Radio Oméga.
In response, the Government has stated that it wants to “continue in a dynamic to carry out in-depth investigations” in order to clarify and punish the perpetrators of the cases of violations denounced by the international organization.
“The fight we are leading is the right to life of millions of Burkinabés”, have defended transition authorities, who have assured that the fight against terrorism can only be successful if the actors involved fully respect the values that they themselves they defend and for which “they are ready to make all sacrifices, including the ultimate sacrifice”.
Just a few days ago, the head of the country’s military junta admitted “dysfunctionality” in the fight against terrorism during a visit to the Djibo military base.
