They warn of another scam via SMS that supplants the identity of the Tax Agency

Nov. 9 (Portaltic/EP) –

Avast has alerted about a new ‘phis campaignhing’ detected in Spain that supplants the identity of the Tax Agency with the aim of stealing the victim’s bank details.

The scams that they try to deceive by pretending to be the Tax Agency they are not new, and are even often repeated every year on the occasion of the Renta campaign. And like all of them, the campaign now detected by Avast analysts reproduces the sending of false SMS messages.

These messages include a link that, when the user clicks on it, redirects him to a page that is supposed to be from the Tax Agency, with the aim of generating confidence in the victim so that he enters your bank card details, including CCV and pin code.

Also, the victim is urged to introduce a code that will supposedly be received via SMS (which the victim never receives), or by opening the bank’s application, from the phone itself, where a refund notification is supposed to be received, as explained by the company in a press release.

In the face of this type of scam, the Avast Security Evangelist, Luis Corrons, recommends eliminating the SMS. And in case you have doubts about whether it’s real or fake, do not click the link or download attachmentsand but they do contact the bank or organization whose identity they are trying to impersonate.

Corrons warns that, in this specific case, although an attempt is made to imitate the entity’s real website, this lacks functionalitysince, for example, it does not change the language when selecting the option, even though they appear displayed.
