Nov. 7 (EUROPA PRESS) –
An Iranian prisoner identified as Nematolá Barahuyi would have been hanged this Sunday in the Zahedan prison despite the fact that he was already dead because he died when he resisted receiving the news that he was going to be hanged, according to the organization Iran Human Rights (IHR), with based in Norway.
Barahuyi, an ethnic Baluche, was in prison after being sentenced to death for drug trafficking. Early Sunday morning he was notified that he was going to be hanged, but he resisted and received a fatal blow to the neck during the struggle, according to the Hal Vash news portal, quoted by IHR.
Barahuyi’s body was also hanged so that hanging could be recorded as the cause of death and thus avoid legal proceedings.
Barahuyi’s body was hung next to that of another Baluche from Zahedán, Amanolá Alizehi. Neither of the two hangings have been publicized in the Iranian media, as is usual.
In the first six months of the year, 251 people were executed, including 6 women and 67 members of the Baluche minority. This figure represents more than twice as many executions as in the same period of 2021, according to the IHR count.
