On October 30, Sarun Charoensuwan, Permanent Under Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand, visited Dhaka, Bangladesh, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Bangladeshorganized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh.
On this occasion, the Deputy Permanent Secretary paid a courtesy visit to Masud Bin Momen, Foreign Minister of Bangladesh. Both sides exchanged views on the world political and economic situation and agreed to promote economic cooperation to take advantage of trade and investment opportunities.
Later, Sarun Charoensuwan paid a courtesy call to Abulkalam Abdul Momen, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh. Both parties welcomed the development of bilateral relations based on mutual understanding and stressed the importance of exchanging support in various international frameworks. In addition, the Bangladeshi side sought further cooperation with Thailand to develop its agribusiness and tourism sectors.

The deputy permanent secretary and the foreign secretary also presided over the postage stamp launching ceremony commemorating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Bangladesh and the launch of an e-book on the history of relations between the two nations with in order to promote, publicize and strengthen bilateral relations at all levels.
Both parties welcomed the development of bilateral relations and highlighted the importance of exchanging support in various international frameworks
Thailand and Bangladesh formally established their diplomatic relations on October 5, 1972 and have continuously developed their bilateral relations ever since, especially in development cooperation.
Being good friends and having a positive attitude towards Thailand, Bangladesh stressed the importance of relations with Thailand as a country with a leading role in the region. Given the potential and economy of Bangladesh, Thailand has opportunities to expand cooperation in various sectors that would benefit the future development of both countries.
