July 6. (Portaltic/EP) –
Ubisoft has announced the cessation of online and multiplayer services for some of its titles, which will be effective as of September 1 and will affect games like Assasin’s Creed or Prince Of Persia.
At the end of last April, the French developer and distributor closed the servers of dozens of its games to PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 (PS3) and Wii U. So, he also noted that the single player features for those games were still available.
Now, the company has updated the list of video games that will be left without online services and, therefore, without multiplayer mode, within the ‘Help’ section of their website.
Mods are different for each game and support platform. This means that it will close online services for PC for some titles, while others will be for other platforms, such as PS3, Xbox 360 or Wii U.
In this way, this closure, which will take effect on September 1, will affect titles such as far cry 3 for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3, plus Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands (PC) and several games of the saga Assassin’s Creed, such as II (PC and PS3), 3 (PC, PS3, Wii U and Xbox 360) and Brotherhood (PC, PS3 and Xbox 360).
This measure will not only eliminate multiplayer for these games, it will also prevent the user from accessing additional downloadable content (DLCfor its acronym in English) and other functions ‘online’ in the titles that have them.
Ubisoft defends its actions by ensuring that the closure of online services for these games allows the company to focus its resources on “creating great experiences for users who are playing newer and more popular titles“.
