Annual inflation in Colombia was 12.22% in October

The National Administrative Department of Statistics (Dane) revealed this Saturday, November 5, the most recent results of the Consumer Price Index at the October cutoff, which showed that the annual variation of 12.22% in the cost of living.

According to the entity, the monthly variation was 0.72% and year to date 10.86%.

In October 2022, the annual variation (12.22%) was 7.64 percentage points higher than that reported in the same period of the previous year, when it was 4.58%.

The figures are significantly higher than market projections that estimated an annual variation of 12%.

In the month of October 2022, six divisions were above the national average (0.72%): Food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.21%), Transportation (1.09%), Miscellaneous goods and services (0.90%), Recreation and culture (0.89%), Furniture, articles for the home and for the ordinary maintenance of the home (0.77%) and, finally, Restaurants and hotels (0.77%).

Below were: Health (0.70%), Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (0.56%), Accommodation, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (0.40%), Clothing and footwear (0.23 %), Information and communication (0.05%) and lastly, Education (-0.02%).
