Without a doubt, the live action adaptation of The Witcher became one of the most successful series on Netflix with only 2 seasons. Unfortunately, the new batch of episodes will represent the end of an era, as it will be the last in which Henry Cavill, the actor who plays Geralt of Rivia, participates. Unsurprisingly, this situation greatly disappointed die-hard fans.
Without giving many details, the also Superman actor announced that he will leave the role of the witcher and that from Season 4 it will be Liam Hemsworth who will play the beloved character. The news disappointed the community, and there are even those who request the cancellation of the show.

The Witcher fan creates petition to demand the return of Henry Cavill
However, a sector of the community is more optimistic and believes that Henry Cavill could return to the series if there is a lot of pressure on social networks. With that hope in mind, a fan created a Change.org petition with the goal of getting the actor to play Geralt of Rivia in Season 4.
At the time of writing these lines, the petition has 26,823 signatures and everything seems to indicate that the figure will increase in the coming hours. Its creator, user Stef Ma, argues in the description that Netflix should rehire Henry Cavill and fire the writers of The Witcher.
The last point refers to the recent statements of former producer Beau DeMayo, who claimed that some writers of the fantasy show actively mocked the CD Projekt RED video games and the original books of the Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski.
“Henry is not leaving The Witcher by Superman. Netflix executives once again made the grave decision not to honor their fans. The reason why The Witcher is such a popular show is because of the fans’ love of the source material from the books and games, which are hated by the writers and showrunners. Henry Cavill is one of those big fans; he knows everything and he wanted to stay true to Sapkowski’s world, which is why Netflix wants to replace him,” the fan argued in the petition.
Stef Ma claims that fans will stop watching the series and cancel subscriptions after Season 3 airs if Netflix refuses to bring the British actor back.

“We already had to suffer the disaster that was the end of game of Thrones: Netflix can’t repeat the exact same mistake of clinging to writers and showrunners who think they’re superior to the true creator of the stories that made them successful,” the fan concluded.

Of course, it remains to be seen whether this request has any impact. We will have to wait to find out if Henry Cavill returns to play Geralt of Rivia in the Netflix blockbuster.
