At least four people have lost their lives in a mine in the city of Temirtau, in Kazakhstan, due to a gas leak that caused it to explode, according to local authorities.
Around 3:00 a.m. (local time), when gas drainage wells were being drilled, there was a sudden explosion causing the death of four workers, as detailed by the Kazakhstan Ministry of Emergencies and collected by ‘Rate’.
Meanwhile, four people are being treated at a hospital for their injuries, and the search continues for a fifth miner whose whereabouts are unknown.
At the time of the incident, of the 106 employees who were in the mine, 101 were able to climb to the surface. Five people remained inside for the operation of the lifting supports.
