Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen delivered a speech via video during an international symposium of the Japan-Taiwan Union (AJTU), based in Tokyo, titled “50 years without diplomatic relations – Prospects for Taiwan-Japan-US relations in the future”.
In her speech, the president thanked the AJTU for promoting exchanges between the two countries through various actions over the years, promoting the relationship between Taiwan, Japan and the United States and seeking more cooperation and development.
Although Taiwan does not have formal diplomatic relations with Japan and the United States, it continues to work closely with them in various fields, Tsai stressed, adding that the Taiwan-Japan-U.S. It has not only contributed to the stable development of the region, but also made many contributions to the world.
Tsai also said that Taiwan will work with Japan and the United States to strengthen the Global Cooperation and Training Framework (GCTF) and continue to expand the scale of cooperation.
The GCTF is a joint platform between Taiwan and the United States, and in the past three years, thanks to the efforts of both sides, Japan and Australia have come together as full partners, she said, adding that the GCTF has also joined expanded to include countries in Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean.

Facing the restructuring of the global supply chain, Taiwan, Japan and the United States are also expected to join hands to strengthen the global democratic supply chain by drawing on their strengths in the international division of labor, Tsai said.
According to the president, Taiwan, Japan and the United States have worked together to combat the pandemic in recent years.
Now, in the face of challenges in the post-pandemic era and changes in the international situation, cooperation will continue to deepen with a view to realizing the vision of a free and open Indo-Pacific, Tsai added.
The president also took this opportunity to thank Japan and the United States for their repeated insistence on the importance of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait in many important international arenas in recent years.
The visit of the Japanese and American congressmen during the National Day in October has also served to convey to the people of Taiwan a strong feeling of support and friendship, Tsai said.
