Within the framework of the ministerial meetings of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Costa Rica, Arnoldo André held a meeting with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Shunsuke Takei.

At the meeting, the opportunity was taken to reiterate to the Japanese diplomat the high value that Costa Rica gives to relations with Japan, “a nation with which values ​​and positions are shared on political issues, such as respect for democracy, as well as other issues. of the multilateral agenda, such as disarmament, protection of the environment, the search for peace and respect for international law”, emphasized the Costa Rican foreign minister.

Takei Shunsuke: “Argentina is an important partner for Japan”

The meeting also served to reiterate to Japan the interest of the administration of the president of Costa Rica, Chaves Robles, to work together as a strategic partner in the Asia Pacific area.

Minister André recognized Japan’s commitment to sustainable development, and expressed interest in continuing to articulate actions and cooperation agreements that favor the economic reactivation of the Latin American country.

In the conversation with the Japanese minister, he took the opportunity to discuss other bilateral issues related to the next visit of Foreign Minister André to Japan, where he will have a series of meetings accompanied by the Costa Rican Foreign Trade Minister, Manuel Tovar, between the 6th and the 11th of next November.

Costa Rica’s work tour in Asia will begin next week in Singapore and then visit Japan.
