Announced this afternoon, the ROG Phone 6 Y ROG Phone 6 Pro They take the base of the even more remarkable ROG Phone 5 and evolve it with two new variants that allow better adjustment of prices, separating a base model with less RAM and some less attractive detail from the top model, which is possibly one of the mobiles gaming most unusual on the market.

On a technical level, both have 6.78-inch OLED screens, which is not new. In fact, the ROG Phone 5 already used a panel with these characteristics. What is notable is that the refresh rate now goes up from 144 to 165 Hz, while the touch digitizer works at 720 Hz, which should result in greater sensitivity to the player’s touches. Power will not be lacking, since both make up a chipset specially reinforced for gamingthe new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, which in the case of the ROG Phone 6 Pro is accompanied by 16 GB of RAM.
Both phones have a specific cooling system with higher performance than other phones, with a 30% larger evaporation chamber. With this change alone, ROG assures, temperatures drop 10 ºC more than using a standard heatsink. In any case, it is also possible to mount a special backpack with its own fan to avoid (or reduce) the throttling during longer gaming sessions.
Other notable features are the presence of AirTrigger programmable ultrasonic triggers, which allow button mapping, the use of a good amplifier with its jack 3.5 mm and the second USB-C connector for accessories. As a differentiating detail, the Pro model has a 2-inch AMOLED rear screen. This small panel can be used to display information such as charging status or incoming calls. It is also possible to display custom animations.
ROG will release its new phones “coming soon” globally. The price list is as follows:
