Steam has announced that the latest beta of the Big Picture mode for televisions with remote control presents a new design in its interface, based on that of the console it develops, Steam Deck.
The Big Picture mode was released in 2012 and is presented as an alternative interface to the desktop that can be activated in Steam and that scales the size of the interface to offer comfortable navigation from the TV, using a gamepad.
In order to unify the user experience and offer a more integrated interface with the Steam Deck, Valve has modified its design and integrated features similar to those of the operating system that the console uses, Steam OS.
Valve has specified some of the features of the new updated Big Picture mode, including a new home page, from which players will be able to continue playing recent games and discover other news from the library of titles.
Also, this new version introduces the universal search, which offers results from the library, the store and the activity of other players who are part of the Friends list.
It has also been included a new control configurator, designed to choose, adjust and create custom modes, while the Steam store has been updated to improve controller navigation.
On the other hand, a new menu has been integrated to improve navigation through the interface, for which you can use the Steam button or Guide or PS. Finally, added a new quick access menu to know the notifications and the list of friends and go to the quick settings by combining the ‘Steam’ and ‘A’ buttons.
The company has acknowledged that details are still missing to finish off this new interface for televisions so for now it will only be available to some Steam beta testers.
