July 5. () –
The workers of the Urban Transport Organization of the Greek city of Thessaloniki (OASTH) have announced a six-day strike starting this Tuesday and until next July 22 to demand better working conditions.
The bus drivers, who are part of the union, have assured that the strike will continue until the demands of the group are met, according to information from the newspaper ‘Kathimerini’.
The strikes will last 24 hours, as explained by the OASTH, which has insisted on the need to achieve a collective labor agreement and has once again demanded that the agreed amounts be paid as subsidies. In addition, they have expressed their intention to shield salaries so as not to suffer changes in the future.
Thus, they have attacked what they consider the “indifference” of the Greek Government and have qualified that the strike will take place on July 5, 7, 11, 16, 18 and 22. Visitors and residents of Thessaloniki rely on urban transport as the city lacks a metro.
