The Witcher Remake – CD PROJECT RED

CD Projekt Red has announced that it is in the early stages of development of the ‘remake’ of the role-playing video game The Witcher, the first title of the famous franchise for which it is using Unreal Engine 5.
Unreal Engine 5 is a graphics engine created by Epic Games that incorporates technological features such as Lumen, Nanite, Virtual Shadow Maps (VSM) and Temporal Super Resolution (TSR), all of them focused on offering a hyper realistic experience during the game.
At the beginning of October, the Polish developer shared a roadmap detailing its short-term plans, among which a sequel to Cyberpunk and five titles related to Cyberpunk stood out. the witcher franchise.
The first of these projects is internally called Project Siriuswhich he identified as “an innovative take” on the video game universe, aimed at both regular fans of the title and new audiences.
He then advanced Project Polaris, also internal name of the first installment of a new open world role-playing trilogy based on the story of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. As CD Projekt Red pointed out in this presentation document, both projects were in their pre-production stage.
Finally, he pointed to a third work, Project Canis Majoriswhich he defined as an open world role-playing game for a single player, whose development would be in charge of a third-party studio led by former employees of this franchise.
Now the developer has revealed that this latest project is in the early stages of development at the Polish studio Fool’s Theory, in which CD Projekt is listed as creative supervisor. Specifically, the ‘remake’ of the first The Witcher “is being rebuilt from scratch in Unreal Engine 5″, as indicated in a statement.
CD Projekt Red has not given details about this work. Moreover, it has included statements from the studio’s director, Adam Badowski, noting that it will be “some time” before we share more news of the game.
