Juliet Starling, the cheerleader protagonist of Lollipop Chainsaw who, chainsaw in hand, faced a horde of zombies in California’s San Romero High School in 2012, will return in 2023 with a complete remake, as announced by Dragami Games, a company led by Yoshimi Yasuda, producer of the original game. The new version of the title does not yet have a formal name or launch platforms, but Yasuda talks about a project for the new generation, so at least the arrival of the game on PS5 and Xbox Series seems certain.

According to the first details offered by Yasuda, the remake from Lollipop Chainsaw aims to deliver the same offering as the original game, but with two major changes. On the one hand, Dragami Games wants to take advantage of the power of new generation hardware, so the remake will feature “a more realistic approach to graphics.” On the other, there are problems with musical permissions and the new version will only be able to have a “few licensed songs”, while the rest of the soundtrack will be new.

One of the reasons for bringing Lollipop Chainsaw back to life is the fact that it is currently impossible to find the game in digital stores. “Unfortunately, various factors have made Lollipop Chainsaw no longer easily playable by fans. […]Yasuda laments.

In addition to Yoshimi Yasuda, who will repeat as producer, the remake from Lollipop Chainsaw features much of the original team. This is because last May Kadokawa Games, developer of Lollipop Chainsaw, sold part of his business and the license of the game to Dragami Games. In addition, Yasuda has confirmed that they have contacted Warner Bros. Games to carry out the remake and have received your support. It is unknown if this support implies the distribution of the title or if it is simply a blessing.

Lollipop Chainsaw is an action game hack and slash emerged from the collaboration between Goichi Suda and film director James Gunn. Her campaign follows Juliet Starling, an 18-year-old cheerleader who, after being saved by her boyfriend Nick Carlyle from a zombie bite, cuts off her head to prevent her from transforming. For some reason Nick’s head is still alive, so he puts it on his belt. She and a chainsaw will face a horde of undead resurrected by Swan, an outcast student whose love for Juliet is unrequited.
