The Moroccan security forces have arrested five suspected supporters of the Islamic State terrorist group who were planning attacks, as part of several operations carried out in various areas of the country, the authorities have reported.
The suspects, aged between 20 and 45 years old, have been arrested in the provinces of Casablanca, Kenitra, Sidi Yahya Zaer, Inezgane-Ait Melloul and Chichaua, spread between the center and south of the Alaouite kingdom, according to the Central Office of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ, for its acronym in French).
All of them had professed “loyalty” to the Islamic State and were preparing to attack basic services and objectives of the security forces. The authorities have seized weapons and ammunition and assure that several of the detainees were already training in the manufacture of explosives.
