Preservation enthusiast Kirkland (via Kotaku) published in Internet Archive over 1,900 PlayStation 2 video game manuals that were released in the United States. This fact represents the most important advance of one of his preservation projects since he has been working on it for many years, taking time, effort and money since it is estimated that he has spent more than $40,000 USD over 2 decades buying games and equipment, as well as as spending on everything necessary to achieve quality images that account for an era and a lost art in video games.

In this regard, Kirkland told the site: “The goal is to raise awareness of video game preservation efforts. Many of them shaped how we looked at and experienced the world. Of course, as we grow, we move to other things, but there are many of us who are nostalgic for them and want our children to be able to enjoy what we live in. My process is horrible. “Using a document scanner is disappointing for quality, but a necessity because of volume. I’ve spent entire summer vacations scanning manuals, only to discard them as I got better equipment or better processing.”
According to Kirkland, his journey in the world of gaming seen in the present and in the past has led him to deal with the presence of collectors and exorbitant prices for strange video games, hence his work is not finished and at this time it is limited to the PS2 releases in the US, already monstrous considering that it is the effort of a single person.
