Oct. 21 (Portaltic/EP) –
WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature that allows Android device users to create custom avatars, an option that is already available in the latest beta version of the application.
Since Meta announced his interest in the development of the metaversethe company has been introducing the possibility of using avatars in three dimensions (3D) in some of its applications, such as Facebook, Messenger and Instagram.
At the end of June, WABetaInfo warned that the company was developing this feature for WhatsApp, using an alternative set of Memoji/Birmoji, that is, custom avatars with human faces.
A few days ago, this same portal reported that these resources could be used in sticker format and that the platform would be able to automatically create a repertoire of personalized avatars to share them through individual or group chats.
Now, has indicated that the company is implementing this tool, which some beta testers can already access, as warned in the latest WhatsApp beta update for Android 2.22.23.9which is downloaded through the Play Store.
Through a screenshot, WABetaInfo has shared the avatar configuration menu on the messaging platform, which can not only be used as a ‘sticker’, but also as WhatsApp profile picture.
It is expected that this option, available in the ‘Settings’ section of the account, will soon be deployed to the entire base of users of this Meta service and, at the moment, it is unknown if it will reach iOS devices.
