Manzana would have stalled its plans to use memory chips made by Chinese supplier Yangtze Memory Technologies Co. (YMTC) in its products, specifically the 3D NAND model.
The American manufacturer chose this Asian company for the development of the memories of its latest ‘smartphone’ model, iPhone 14at the beginning of September.
In this case, YMTC would have to manufacture the 3D NAND flash memories, components with 128 layers and embedded in a wide variety of smart devices, such as personal computers and servers.
Initially, Apple planned to start using the Asian company’s chips soon, which are financed by the Chinese state and have a price 20 percent less than that of its main competitors.
However, as reported by Asian NikkeiApple would have decided to paralyze this commercial agreement due to the new impositions of the US Government and the export controls imposed to Chinese tech companies.
These memories would be used in the first place in the iPhone sold in the Chinese market but, according to sources consulted by this medium, the American manufacturer planned to acquire up to 40 percent of the total of memories needed for all your iPhones.
