kyiv calls on Ukrainians to save electricity after a missile hit a local power plant

Oct. 16 () –

The Ukrainian authorities have asked the population of kyiv this Saturday to try to save electricity between 5:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. in order to avoid emergency cuts, after a missile hit a plant located on the outskirts of Kiev on Saturday. the city.

The electricity company, Ukrenergo, has shared a publication on Facebook in which it has asked citizens to recharge their mobile phones and portable batteries before the afternoon break, and also to prepare dinner beforehand if they have an electric stove.

The reason, they have detailed, is that the “terrorists” are trying to put an end to the substations that have the necessary transformers to reduce the voltage of the current and that it can be distributed to consumers, with the aim of leaving without electricity to thousands of citizens.

“If our substation is damaged or destroyed, Ukrenergo’s energy workers immediately try to cure consumers with other connections, often ‘field road’ lines, a power source not as reliable as highways and that is the main reason why we ask you to save,” they explained in the statement.

The company has detailed that if, on the contrary, they experienced an increase in consumption, given the inability to transmit energy through other channels, they would be forced to generate an emergency cut or blackout, for which they have requested that consumption cease after 11:00 p.m. .
