The complexity of the PlayStation 3 hardware is something that no one wants to deal with, not even Sony, which is why the offer of games for this console on PlayStation Plus is through streaming from the cloud. However, the Japanese company could choose to improve the experience through the devices that were once compatible with its third console.
Devices from the PS3 era could return for PS5
A report of GameRant shared information found in a Sony patent registered on June 30 of this year, which is called “Systems and methods for converting legacy code into updated code” and shows what a device recognition system could be of last generation to ensure its operation in the emulation process, something that could happen on the PlayStation 5 at least with PS3 games.
PS3 games are available on PS Plus via streaming
Why the relationship with PS3? Well, one of the patent images shows the scheme of the system and it includes various devices such as a PSP, the Eye Toy, the PlayStation Move controller, although a Memory Card, a keyboard and a mouse are also shown. The first devices mentioned were part of the PS3 era, so Sony could bring them back with support for the PlayStation Plus library.
Like any patent, it is an idea that may or may not become a reality, but it should not be forgotten that part of the community has raised its voice after the threat of closing the PS Store for PS3, PS Vita and PSP, so Sony it could try to balance the scales by offering support for these devices by offsetting the cloud gaming offering that is made for this console.
