Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky has urged Russian soldiers sent to Ukraine to choose to “flee” because it is their “best option”, although he has assured that they will always have the option to surrender.
“If the occupiers flee while they have a chance, that will be their best option. If they are forced to stay, they will have a chance to surrender and be captured by Ukrainian forces,” Zelensky said in a video message.
In that case, Zelenski has assured that they will be given all the guarantees. “Ukraine always complies with all international standards, all conventions,” he stressed, according to Ukrainian media.
In addition, Zelenski has highlighted the continuous advances of the Ukrainian forces in the east and south of the country. “We maintain positions in Donbas, in particular in the direction of Bakhmut,” he noted.
