Andrés Cepeda begins his “Purple Route” through the US and Canada with sold-out tickets at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York

( ) – Colombian singer Andrés Cepeda begins this Thursday his concert tour “The Purple Route” in the United States and Canada.

The artist will raise the curtain in one of the most emblematic theaters, not only in New York, but in the entire United States: Carnegie Hall.

“Imagine, we are very proud and happy because each of these dates is going to be celebrated on stages of that category,” Andrés Cepeda told Zona Pop in an interview via Zoom.

“For me it is very important at this point in my career to be able to become so valuable, so classic, so iconic, and obviously accompanied by musicians up to the task, with a very special repertoire, with arrangements made especially for this occasion”, added the singer-songwriter.

The Colombian starts the tour on the right foot as the tickets for Carnegie Hall are completely sold out. This is the first time that Cepeda has performed on the emblematic stage, which has received artists such as Judy Garland, The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett or, among Latinos, the Argentine Fito Páez.

“What we wanted was for all the theaters to have the same category and it so happened that the date they offered us at Carnegie was the first of the tour, so it was perfect,” Cepeda told Zona Pop .

“We are aiming to do this tour about three years ago and presenting all the credentials to be able to be there. So it is a dream that finally comes true. I have had the opportunity to see a couple of shows there and I know what it means. That is why I feel so proud to be part of the selection of artists that have passed through Carnegie Hall”, added Cepeda.

“The Purple Route” by Andrés Cepeda

The name of the tour may seem a bit curious to some. What is the purple route? Why do you paint your tour that color? Everything has to do with the color of the decoration of these mythical venues, Cepeda explained to Zona Pop .

“Is named The Purple Route because it is a route, of course, it is a tour that takes us through different cities. And it’s purple because many of these classic theaters, which are very traditional, have this type of decoration that is purple velvet, the gold decorations, which is very typical of a time when many of those theaters were built and that frame them within a style of great elegance, of great luxury. They are very special theaters and that is why it seemed nice to resort to that idea of the color of purple velvet, “said the interpreter.

For Cepeda, the realization and the beginning of the tour is a dream that comes true. Not only for appearing in New York, but in the rest of the theaters that are part of this route.

“For me, this possibility of being in such high-class theaters that have very demanding curators is symbolic. Not everyone can go to perform in theaters like these. I have always dreamed of being in such iconic, special places where excellence in music is rewarded. It is a very dreamy moment in my career, it is something that I have really yearned for since I started my career many years ago and to be able to do it today with the experience I have, with the music that I have been accumulating, because it is very significant and it is a great honor. Cepeda added.
