Elizabeth Olsen finds filming Marvel scenes ’embarrassing’

Actress Elizabeth Olsen is a staple in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Olsen, 33, played “Scarlet Witch / Wanda Maximoff” in 6 MCU movies and also in the successful program “WandaVision”, but still finds it a bit “embarrassing” to film some scenes for the superhero genre.

“It’s silly,” Olsen said. Variety. “There is a lot of nonsense. I always wish that one day they would release a version of the movie without special effects, because then you understand how ridiculous that feels. And how spectacular is the work involved in making them.”

The actress said in particular that the more serious and dramatic scenes are the ones she finds the most challenging to film.

“It’s very embarrassing to film that kind of thing, because the world depends on you doing it.”

Olsen referred to the particular moment he saw his co-star Paul Bettany’s character, Vision, die in “Avengers: Infinity War.”

“It was one of the last things we filmed,” he told the outlet. “I felt very comfortable with him as an actor if we had to improvise that rhythm a little bit. We were trying to find it, with [directors] The Russians leading us.

“And I just remember giggling the rest of the day, while [Thanos actor Josh] Brolin had the helmet on. And I do not know. These movies are so dumb, but you have to act crazy to make them work.”

Olsen admitted that some of his character’s scenes are especially embarrassing to film, including the simulation of special powers shooting out of his fingertips.

“Ugh, I’m doing this in public. But you have a hand that stops something with energy,” she explained. “And then you have another hand that is pulling this fake thing out of this dotted face. And it’s painful and emotional.”
