At least four dead and 25 wounded in a new attack on a mosque in Afghanistan

Oct. 5 (EUROPA PRESS) –

At least four people have died and another 25 have been injured in a new attack on a mosque in the Afghan capital, Kabul, located near the headquarters of the Ministry of the Interior.

As confirmed by the spokesman for the Afghan Interior Ministry, Abdul Nafay Takor, the explosion occurred around 1:30 p.m. (local time), while some of the Ministry employees were praying.

“The investigation into the incident is ongoing and details will be released when the investigation is complete,” Takor added on his Twitter social network profile.

Previously, the NGO Emergency had confirmed that, after the explosion, it urgently received around twenty patients, two of whom arrived dead at its health facilities in Kabul.

While attacks on mosques in Afghanistan have become relatively frequent, this would be the first time an attack has taken place inside a Taliban government building since they came to power in August 2021.

Although different media have pointed out that the event would have occurred in a mosque located inside the Ministry headquarters, Takor has clarified that it is a religious center located near the headquarters of the Interior.
