Blizzard has confirmed that the video game Overwatch 2 It has been the victim of two massive Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks on the same day of its official launch, which has caused connection problems for some of its users.

The video game, which replaces the first installment of the franchise, It has been launched this Tuesday, October 4 as a “free permanent service” for PC, Xbox One and Series X/S platforms, PlayStation 4 and 5 and Nintendo Switch.

On the same day of its launch, Overwatch 2 has suffered two massive DDoS attacks, which have paralyzed the title’s servers and have generated long queues to access it.

Initially, the president of Blizzard Entertainment, Mike Ybarra, Indian via Twitter that the developer’s teams were “working hard on server issues”, although he did not specify what caused these errors.

Shortly after, the manager ad that its servers had experienced a massive DDoS attack, causing downtime and connection issues, and that the company was working to “mitigate and manage” them.

For his part, the game’s assistant director, Aaron Keller, advancement hours after Blizzard was “steadily making progress on server issues and stability” and reported that then too was working on a second DDoS attack.

At the moment, the developer has not issued an official statement or given more details about these errors. He also hasn’t offered any more information about the current status of the Overwatch 2 servers.

Blizzard announced the second installment of Overwatch during the celebration of Blizzcon 2019. This time, the title includes new skins, heroes and maps and introduces a skill evolution system, quests, and the new ‘Push’ game mode.

One of the main differences with respect to the original video game is that in Overwatch 2 loot boxes cannot be transferred. Instead, players will have the items contained in the locked crates placed in their account, so they will automatically open on migration.
