In recent weeks, SEGA has offered a lot of information about sonic frontiers, the new title of the hedgehog that will debut before 2023. Although the first reactions have been somewhat divided, SEGA has faith in the title and is confident that fans will like the proposal until they try it for themselves. Well, it hasn’t been possible to play it yet, but many are already happy with the title because it will bring back an old and adorable friend.
Days ago we informed you of the possibility that Big the Cat appeared in sonic frontiers judging by some elements that were found inside the archives of sonic origins. The fans’ suspicions were correct, as it has already been confirmed that the huge purple cat will appear in Sonic’s new adventure.

How will the fishing game work on sonic frontiers?
We know this thanks to Game Informerbecause in its most recent issue (via regular panties) shared more gameplay details and reveals that Big the Cat with his partner Froggy will appear in the linear levels of Cyber Space, which will be possible to enter using Portal Gears, which will drop from bosses when defeated or found on the map, just as the datamine we told you about suggested.
That’s not all, the best thing is that this beloved character will return with the fishing minigame that debuted in sonic adventure, which is also a fan favorite. According to the details, Sonic’s great friend will teach him how to fish, so the hedgehog will be able to find fish that will turn into tokens that can be exchanged for various items, such as Portal Gear fragments, voice diaries, Vault Keys or even collectibles like Amy’s hearts.

This might be a minor thing for many players, but it’s actually a big deal for fans, as it’s the return of one of the fan favorite mini-games after more than 2 decades. Big the Cat also debuted in sonic adventurebut had not appeared in a main series game since sonic heroes (2003, as a playable character), not counting his brief appearance in the Nintendo DS version of sonic colors (2010).
Unfortunately, an image of Big the Cat was not shared in the publication and SEGA has not yet revealed a trailer with this minigame, so we will have to wait to see the adorable duo in sonic frontiers.
