The deputy of the political party France Insumisa, Eric Coquerel, has defended himself this Saturday from the accusations of sexual harassment, pointing out that the “rumors are unfounded”.
Coquerel, president-elect of the Finance Committee of the National Assembly, has published an opinion piece at a time when the media focus that has been pointing to him for months has been revived in recent weeks.
“I am making this forum to affirm that I have never exercised violence or physical or mental coercion,” said the politician, to which he added: “I am making this forum to express my total solidarity with the #MeToo movement. It is an essential revolution and not I do not wish in any way that this clarification could appear or be used as a criticism that would be made to him”.
In the text, he assures that it is a “rumor that is not based on any complaint.” Likewise, she has maintained that “public questioning should not be possible without a precise, identified, verified report, thus respecting the voice of women.”
In addition, the deputy explained that he had not spoken publicly until now because he did not want to “respond directly to these rumors and slander, considering that doing so would increase his audience.”
