LONDON, Oct. 3 (DPA/EP) –
King Carlos III and the queen consort Camila have reappeared this Monday for the first time in a public event after the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, who died on September 8 at the age of 96 and 70 years of reign.
The now British kings have thus concluded the period of royal mourning for the death of the historic monarch, who after several days of tributes and delegations was finally buried at Windsor Castle on September 19.
Carlos III has gone to the Scottish city of Dunfermline, in the Fife region, to officially confer city status, something that, he said, “would gladden the heart” of his late mother.
Dunfermline is one of eight communities given the honor as part of Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
During his speech, Carlos recalled the “deep love” that his mother felt for Scotland and has even assured that it was “one of the pillars of his life”.
