The king Charles III abandoned plans to attend COP27 climate change summit the next month after the Prime Minister Liz TrussI would advise you to stay away. The monarch is a person committed to this cause and had intended to deliver a speech at the meeting of world leaders in Egypt.
Truss, who is also unlikely to attend this meeting, opposed the king’s plans for a personal audience at Buckingham Palace a few weeks ago.
The decision is likely to fuel tensions between the new prime minister and the new monarch, although a Downing Street source said that the audience had been cordial. However, the news comes amid suspicions that the government may water down or abandon its environmental target of achieving “net zero” by 2050.

A high official close to the Royal Family has confessed anonymously to The Times that “it is no mystery that the king was invited to go. “He had to think very carefully what steps to take for your first tour abroad and will not attend Cop. The fact that he is not present does not mean that Carlos does not find other ways to support him “, he has added.
“The Queen gave a completely non-political speech at this summit last year.or… it seems that Carlos is not being given the option. That’s a government misjudgment“, the source said. “The King could absolutely go and deliver the government message and give credibilitygiven all the accolades it gets in that space,” he added.
Charles III experience
The new king is widely respected as one of the world’s leading voices on environmental issues and has been campaigning on it for more than 50 years.
Carlos III was in charge of pronouncing the opening speech at Cop21 in Paris in 2015, calling for a “grand military-style campaign” to fight climate change and urging world leaders to commit “trillions, not billions, of dollars.” He also played an important role in calling and encouraging world leaders to sign the historic Paris Climate Agreement in the event.
He was also in charge of making a speech at the Cop26 opening ceremony in Glasgow, in which he called on world leaders to adopt a “war posture” to deal with the threat of climate change. In a video about this conference last year, Queen Elizabeth II, his mother, praised his work. “It is a source of great pride to me that the leadership role my husband played in encouraging people to protect our fragile planet lives on through the work of our eldest son Charles and his eldest son William. I couldn’t be more proud of them,” she assured.

Another recent example of the Royal Family’s commitment to climate change was during the celebrations of the Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee this past June. The Prince Guillermo gave a speech after images of the planet were projected at Buckingham Palace.
“As I look at those extraordinary images, it makes me think of all the monumental and pioneering work of so many visionary environmentalists who have gone before. I’m very proud that my grandfather and father were part of those effortsWilliam stated.
The Prince of Wales was also at Cop26, but will not be in Egypt. To this day, he is focused on his earthshot award for environmental innovations and will attend the corresponding ceremony in Boston in December, along with his wife.
