PRAGUE, Oct. 1 (DPA/EP) –
At least seven people have been injured, including a child, after a van with 29 migrants inside crashed during a police chase that began at the Lanzhot border post in the Czech Republic, bordering Slovakia.
During the chase, the driver allegedly tried to force a police car off the road. Finally, the driver lost control of the vehicle at an intersection in the city of Breclav and crashed it into two parked cars, a road sign and a house, the Czech agency CTK reported on Saturday, citing police.
The migrants reportedly came from Syria.
The Czech Republic temporarily reinstated border controls with Slovakia on Thursday in response to the arrival of migrants via the Balkan route to Western Europe.
Since the beginning of the year, according to official data, almost 12,000 migrants in transit who declare a different country of destination have been registered in the country. Most of them are Syrians.
