Sep. 26 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The South Korean authorities have reported this Monday that two people have died, another is seriously injured and there are four missing, after a fire started in a shopping center in the central city of Daejeon.

Firefighters have reported that the fire would have started at 07:45 local time (00:00 Spanish peninsular time) in the Hyundai Premium Outlet Daejeon shopping center, located 160 kilometers south of Seoul.

The emergency services have explained that they are having difficulties in their work due to the large amount of smoke that has been generated by the presence of paper boxes in the loading area of the shopping center.

Two men — in their 50s and 30s — have been found seriously injured, taken to hospital and ultimately pronounced dead. Another man – about 40 years old – is under medical treatment, the South Korean Yonhap agency has collected.

Local authorities have indicated that the whereabouts of four employees are unknown, so a search has been launched.

The fire started before business hours, so there were no customers in the vicinity of the points of sale who could be in danger. However, more than a hundred people, including employees, who were in the vicinity have been evacuated.
