The Iranian Government assures that the autopsy rules out a police attack on Mahsa Amini

The Iranian Interior Minister, Ahmad Vahidi, assured this Saturday that forensic medical tests rule out that the Kurdish-Iranian Mahsa Amini died due to a beating by the security forces after being arrested in Tehran for wearing the veil incorrectly. The case has sparked a wave of protests in Iran.

“The medical examinations and those of the forensic department show that there were no blows or a fractured skull,” Vahidi told IRIB by the Iranian news agency IRNA.

The minister has also warned of the risk of “false interpretations” of this incident.

The official version maintains that Amini, arrested on September 13 in Tehran by the so-called Moral Police for wearing the veil incorrectly, suffered a heart attack for which she was taken to a hospital, where she died days later.

Amini’s death has sparked serious riots and mass protests in Iran that have so far left 17 dead. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has ordered an investigation into what happened.
