Where to watch the Mx League matches in streaming?

The highest professional soccer competition in Mexico kicks off its new season, the 2022 Opening Tournament, on July 1. But, to appreciate all the games, it is necessary to go to different offers.

Through Vix and Zona TUDN, you can follow the start of the league with the game Necaxa vs. Toluca, for example. Izzi or Blim cable service subscribers can access the TUDN platform or app to watch some games.

But, in reality, the Mx League is still divided between the two major television stations.

Televisa has the rights to América, Toluca, Pumas, Cruz Azul. And it shares rights of Necaxa FC Juárez and Santos Laguna with TV Azteca. In addition, it broadcasts Tigres, Chivas and Atlas matches through the Izzi offer and its Afizzionados package.

TV Azteca broadcasts matches from Puebla, Mazatlán, some from Atlas (shared with Televisa and Izzi), and can be seen on its website in streaming.

Fox Sports broadcasts the games in Monterrey, Tijuana, Querétaro, Pachuca and León (in association with Claro Sports). Last week it was reported that Fox Sports will be included at no additional cost in the Prime Video channel offer, for which Amazon also scores a point in the competition to retain soccer fans in Mexico.

ESPN broadcasts Atlético San Luis games exclusively.

Apple TV stays with the MLS

Apple paid $250 million to secure the rights to MLS for the next decade.

Major League Soccer (MLS) and Apple TV announced a partnership on June 14 that will allow every game in the American soccer league to be viewed on the app for the next decade.

From 2023 to 2032, MLS fans will be able to access the games through the league’s streaming service, which will be able to watch all MLS games, the Leagues Cup and some MLS NEXT Pro games. The deal cost Apple $250 million.

The Leagues Cup is a competition that pits Mexican teams against teams from the United States.

Season ticket holders of all MLS teams will have free access to the service, while select MLS and League Cup matches will also be available at no additional cost to Apple TV+ subscribers.

All MLS and League Cup matches will be broadcast in English and Spanish, while Canadian team matches will also be available in French.

The subscription to Apple TV + costs 69 pesos per month.

Libertadores Cup

Starting in 2023, Paramount+ will broadcast all the matches of the Copa Libertadores and the Copa Sudamericana, two of the most important tournaments on the continent, with popular teams such as Boca Juniors, River Plate or Palmeiras from Brazil. Previously, the rights belonged to Fox Sports. Another point for Paramount+.

The Spanish league in Mexico is still in the hands of Sky, which is why there is no streaming platform that broadcasts these matches.

The NFL unleashes fierce competition

The NFL, by the way, is the bone of contention between streaming platforms. Currently, Amazon, Apple and Disney are in a battle for broadcast rights to Sunday football games, known as the NFL Sunday Ticket.

It is estimated that this league can collect 3,000 million dollars (almost 60,000 million pesos) for an agreement of this size. The Sunday Ticket includes Sunday matches that are not broadcast on national TV.

According to the specialized media Front Office Sports, Disney is willing to pay up to 1,500 million dollars annually. An additional amount to the 2,700 million dollars that it already pays to broadcast Monday Night Football.

Amazon Prime has the game on Thursday, for which it invests 1,000 million dollars annually.

Netflix, for its part, remains on the sidelines of this dispute, although it has content related to the NFL in its catalog. Even a month ago it was revealed that Tom Brady, the American football star, will produce and will be a guest in a new Netflix series that would see the light in 2023.
