It seems that Alphacool has taken a liking to using brass as the coating material for its liquid cooling blocks. If a few weeks ago we knew about the Alphacool Core XP Brass, now they have done the same with their block Alphacool Eisblock XPX Aurora completely covered in brass.
Do not confuse the cover with the contact base, this is still made of copper with a nickel finish for better heat transfer between the copper microfins inside through which the liquid circulates and the processor.
Brass is used in the external structure, helping to better dissipate heat from the liquid, improving blocks with an acrylic finish and those with an acetal finish, for example.
The Alphacool Eisblock XPX Aurora is divided into Pro model and Edge model. The Pro is larger and supports today’s widest sockets, including the massive AMD sWRX8 or Intel’s LGA 4189, while the Aurora Edge supports more standard sockets such as AM4, AM%, LGA 2066 and LGA 1700 among others.
At the moment we do not know its price and release date, but it should not be much higher than the previous acetal and acrylic variants.
