Blue Action Festival opens call for applications for ocean research and innovation projects in Chile


Until October 20, young leaders from 13 to 24 years old, or participants over 25 years old, will be able to submit their projects to address ocean problems and propose possible solutions; based on actions, research or oceanic innovation of the Chilean maritorio.

The Blue Action Festival that will take place in Valparaíso between November 3 and 5, announces its call to apply for ocean research and innovation projects. The call will be open until October 20 at accionazul.org.

The purpose of the activity is to make visible actions, ideas or initiatives that are having an impact in the country, to highlight the importance of knowledge and science as a basis for the development of an oceanic culture and to involve young people as key drivers of change. All projects must be framed in themes of climate change and sustainable development, maritime governance, port cities or local economy.

The Blue Action Festival is a meeting of the sea and will feature the presence of prominent national and international exhibitors. In addition to this R+D+i contest, it keeps open until September 30 a photo contestconvening the participation of government entities, civil organizations, universities and research centers, and the private sector.

The call for Blue Action Ocean Research and Innovation Projects includes two categories: «Young Leaders», which corresponds to people or organizations of any nationality, between 13 and 24 years old, who are developing an innovation or research project in relation to ocean problems and possible solutions. While a second category of «ocean projects”, It is aimed at people or organizations of any nationality, aged 25 and over, who are developing an innovation or research project in relation to ocean problems and possible solutions.

The selected projects will be able to exhibit at the Blue Action Festival ocean forums and conferences, where they will be able to exchange ideas with professionals, academics, ministers, businessmen and people involved in the development of marine sciences in the country and in the world.

According to Gonzalo Lazo, Executive Director of Blue Action: “This Festival is the beginning of a work to make visible and connect communities with the most innovative actions that are taking place in the sea, we will talk about the ocean from the ocean and we will do it in a very disruptive way, in addition to conferences, we will have many activities on the coastline and high-impact actions at sea.
