Iranian president travels to the US to attend the UN General Assembly

Sep. 19 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The president of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, began his trip to New York City, in the United States, on Monday to attend the United Nations General Assembly, an appointment that he considers important to put Iranian positions on the table.

Despite traveling to the United States, Raisi has made it clear that he does not intend to meet with US officials as part of his visit, which will last five days, according to the IRNA news agency.

Raisi has clarified that Iran’s assistance to the General Assembly is given after the invitation of the United Nations, and has stressed that the meeting is a great stage to express Iran’s positions.

“This trip is an opportunity to express actions that sometimes are not heard because the world’s media space is dominated by the great powers,” he stressed.

Regarding the meetings with international representatives, Raisi has acknowledged that he will hold bilateral meetings with senior officials from different countries, however “there is no reason for negotiations or meetings with the Americans.”
