The Russian authorities have been against the possibility that the President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelensky, intervene by videoconference in the United Nations General Assembly, scheduled for next week in New York, United States.
According to Russia’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasili Nebenzia, this would be “another violation” of the rules agreed upon by the member states of the organization, according to the Russian news agency Interfax.
“Zelenski is traveling throughout the country (Ukraine) perfectly, yesterday he visited some regions of the country, but he cannot come here (to New York),” the Russian representative pointed out with some irony.
Thus, Nebenzia has recommended to the Ukrainian head of state that, if he cannot travel to the United States, then he should send a representative to the United Nations General Assembly meeting.
