Tech Camp, the technological training hotbed of Seguros Bolívar

One of the purposes that Seguros Bolívar has set for itself on its way to digital transformation is to train young people in software development in the country. This is how through the Tech Camp hotbed, which has led five promotions in the last three years, they have managed to train and consolidate a work team that today integrates the company’s digital ecosystem.

According to Andro Lowenstein, Vice President of Technology at Seguros Bolívar, the country is lacking qualified talent in technology, added to the fact that the little talent that there is seeks to work for international companies, “which has generated a high turnover of personnel in local companies.”

In view of these challenges, how did we manage, on the one hand, to have people trained to continue with this digital transformation, and on the other hand, how did we generate a sense of belonging to the company? According to company figures, the turnover of technology personnel went from 38% to 13%. Likewise, Of the 206 people who make up the Seguros Bolívar technology team, 51 are trained at the Tech Camp.

Throughout the training process, the Seguros Bolívar Tech Camp has two important phases. The first is a three-month period focused on training young people in everything related to software development.

For its part, the second phase, which has another three months, young people participate in the development of business challenges and have the opportunity to put their knowledge to the test.

It is noteworthy that those young people who participate in the process enter with a salary.

English is no longer a barrier

Although it is said that one of the main challenges faced by young people in the country to training in programming and technology careers is English, The Seguros Bolívar Tech Camp has also opened the possibility for local talent who does not have a second language to continue training.

Those interested may participate in the sixth edition of the Tech Camp, which expects to bring together more than 9,000 people virtually. Likewise, the program seeks to integrate more women seeking training in software development skills.
