The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelensky, has been surprised that former US President Donald Trump has not shown solidarity for his country after the invasion by Russian troops on February 24, 200 days ago.
Zelensky declared in an interview broadcast this Sunday on that Trump “had enough time to understand who Putin is”, after criticizing the attitude of the former US president for his continuous praise of his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.
“He probably needed this to promote his domestic policy and show that he is ready to find an understanding with the president of Russia,” the Ukrainian president said.
Thus, Zelenski has said that he was “surprised” by the former president’s behavior “even after the beginning, with a full-fledged invasion.”
“Ukraine in his eyes is too far away. But this war has no distances that it cannot cover, so I think he needs to look at the situation,” he complained.
Trump described Putin as a “genius” after the Russian leader’s plan to recognize the separatist regions of eastern Ukraine, according to the newspaper ‘The Hill’. “There was a TV screen and I said, ‘Great.’ Putin declares a large part of Ukraine independent and that’s wonderful. He’s smart,” he said.
